Hi there. Just looking here as new SC owner. My question is:
How can I find which firmware version my unit currently has? And what is the preferred method of updating?
(Is it PC to USB stick to SC power off to power on?)
Thanks.

Hi Axxeman,
Welcome to the Clan !
**Here's how you can find the version of your SC:**
Taken from the www.Rolandus.com website:
http://www.rolandus.com/products/produc ... arentId=20
1. Turn the power of SonicCell on.
2. Press [MENU] button to call the MENU screen.
3. Turn [CURSOR/VALUE] to select Version Info screen.
**Here's how you can update your SC:**
* If your SonicCell already has the latest software version, you don't need to update.
CAUTION:
・ We recommend that you save your user data before you perform the update. If a problem occurs and
your user data is lost, you will be able to restore the original state by reloading the data you saved. For
details on the procedure, refer the Owner's Manual (p.182).
・ Do not power-off the SonicCell while the update is in progress. If the power should accidentally fail
during the update, the SonicCell system will be damaged, and the unit may become inoperable.
・ We regret that we cannot answer questions regarding the procedure of installing this system program.
You must perform the installation on your own responsibility, in accordance with the information
provided in this document.
Update procedure
1. Place sonic_cell_up.bin in the root directory of your USB memory on your computer.
2. Connect the USB memory to the SonicCell, and turn on the power.
3. When you turn on the power, loading will begin and the ACCESS LED will start blinking.
4. When the "Completed" message appears, the update is complete.
5. Turn off the power and remove the USB memory, then turn on the power for normal operation again.

I hope this helps
Take care

Re: Firmware versions
Brilliant Paulo.
Much better than what I managed to find out myself...and thanks for the welcome.
I'm not a noob with regard to midi but have only just changed after many years with a trusty SC88Pro, and the SC manual nearly made me wish I hadn't bothered! Is it me or are Roland just not very good at manuals?

Re: Firmware versions
Hi Axxeman,
Roland is **definitely** not very good with Manuals !!!
They always give less info than they should, as their boards do much more than they say, or sometimes they tell us about features that do not exist (yet). It seems that they don't like to promote their own equipment...odd...to say the least.
But their machines are awesome !!!
By the way...I found that info in the Roland us site
Take care

Re: Firmware versions
I know what you mean! I can't seem to get past the first couple of pages of my manual (essentially the 'Table Of Contents') without dozing off.
