Does Roland have something against MidiYoke?

Post by rcraven »

I think Roland doesn't like MidiYoke.
This was the problem with the Editor linking a Roland synth -- SC or FantomX

MS = M-Audio MidiSport interface on a PC
MY = is a MidiYoke virtual device
Ed = the Editor

From the editor to the synth works OK, so just looking at the synth to the editor

Hardware Midi interface
Synth -> MS In3 ->MidiOx -> MS Out2 -> Cable -> MS In2 -> Ed --- this is OK

Virtual Midi interface
Synth -> MS In3 -> MidiOx -> MY Out to 2 -> -> MY In from 2 -> Ed --- this fails

Tried this
Synth -> MS In3 -> MidiOx -> MY Out to 2 -> -> MY In from 2 -> MidiOx -> MS Out7 ->Physical Cable-> MS In7 -> Ed This is OK

The Roland editors won't work if its Midi input port is MidiYoke.

MidiYoke obviously does nothing to the data or timing. The editors just don't like input from virtual drivers (tried the Sony ones as well).

Anyone know the reason why the editors ignore input from virtual interfaces?
Anyone know a work around?

Thanks for all the help
