I don't understand how to save system parameters

I can't seem to save USB-MIDI Thru. I want it to be always ON, but after I turn it on, I do an Exit, than a (System) Write, but after selecting this I get a Performance name Write option. This doesn't seem right. Anyway, doing a Write at this point doesn't accomplish anything.

Can you give me a step-by-step sequence on how to do this? I've read and re-read the book but I'm missing something somewhere here.

I guess, your MIDI INST button is lit, when you enter the menu? then you can only write the performance. press the button until it goes out. if you go to the menu now, you can write your system-settings.
