Converted patches for the SC

Post by rcraven »

I have converted the SRX card patches originally for the XV series to the Fantom X or Fantom S
(see viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36711)

I have now converted these from the FanX to SC

I don't have all the SRX cards in my SC so let me know if there are problems.

There are 512 Analog patches that don't need any SRX cards.
There are the XV ROM sounds that also don't need any SRX cards

They are all in SC library files as I have put in the what cards they originally came from and what SRX cards are needed in the memo columns.

Enjoy

Many thanks. I just got a Sonic Cell and will shortly be selling my JV2080 and srJV cards.

Thanks Royce! Many of these work. But, the JV80-02 conversion is not correct?
I've the SRX-06 board on my Sonic Cell, but the JV80-02 patches do not match. For instance, the patches "Piatti!" and "Major Stab!" (JV80-02 patches) don't load the correct/corresponding EXP-B tones (I've SRX-06 installed in slot B, that has to be slot A?.....). Help appreciated.

Hi Jordi

Some of the SRX cards have some of the waves from some of the JV cards.
You can read about the conversion process here in the FanX forum
viewtopic.php?f=3&t=36711&hilit=+converted.

Basically if the SRX card didn't have the the JV wave (and many of the waves were the same but renamed 8( ) the program had to choose something close. As I don't have any JV cards to listen to the waves other members of the group made up the conversion lists for me.

They were converted for the FanX/FanS first and then converted from FanX to SC.

If you don't like the patch, it is very easy to change the wave.
Grab the editor, select the patch and open the Waveform Generator (WG button on the left).
The wave group should have the SRX-06 already selected so see if there is a wave in the SRX-06 (or the internal waves) that is more to your liking.

The SRX waves are selected using a card specific address so you can put the SRX in any slot and the correct wave will be found.

All the best

Hello Royce,

Thanks. I understand this (I think...)
So, I would like to know the exact tones (waves) from these SR-JV80-02 patches. Because the wave form list is the same for the SRX-06. Is there a possibility to know the exact tones? Maybe I've to ask someone outside the SC forum list?

Hi Jordi
To see the names of the waves in the SR-JV80-02 have a look at ...
http://www.synthman.com/roland/support/ ... formlists/
The problem is the the SRX card may have the identical waves, but they could be renamed.
Have a look and see.

I can only see two ways to find out what the original wave was is.
If you have a XV synth of some sort (eg XV5080, XV3080 etc) load the patches into the XV Librarian, send the patch (or all the patches) to the synth and load a patch at a time into the XV Editor and use the wave number in the above wave list.

The other way is to get a Hex editor (PS Pad or some other free editor) and load the patch in sysex form.
You now need to look for the wave form number. This is complex but the address info is in the back of the manual.

All the best

Thanks for the answer Royce. Unfortunately, I only have the Sonic Cell....

The method you mention, about the Hex editor, is too complex for me I think. However, for some strange reason, the SRJV80-02 patches I want to play are (mostly....) filled with the exact tones/waves! I've loaded these .mid files in my SC via the Librarian (I have downloaded these from a forum member here):

(SRJV80-02 orchestral, SRJV80-13 vocal and SRJV80-16 orchestral II)
