Expansion Packs - Any Good?

Post by DEVO-UK »

Hey

Just bought the SC and loving the thing

Does anyone have any views on the expansion packs?

Are they worth their money?

Hi,
I'm not the best person to tell you about the SRX expansions, as I don't own any, That depends on what type of Patches you are looking for...

From what I've heard so far (rather subjective due to personal taste and music stiles), and I like very much the following (in preference order):

- SRX-07 (ultimate Keys)
- SRX-06 (Complete Orchestra)
- SRX-04 (Symphonique Strings)
- SRX-09 (World Collection)
- SRX-11 (Complete Piano)
- SRX-05 (Supreme Dance)

Take care,

I do an 80's electronic set, eg depeche mode, a-ha, ultravox, new order, numan, etc,

A good base kit for all the songs is my priority and then some good bass patches for arpeggios.

I happy with the base unit sounds, but just wondered if the exoansions were worth the extra money fir the added quality. It is quakity I'm after and not quantity.

I have all of the cards. For your 80's genre, although I suggest SRX-07 and SRX-08 for quantity, I also suggest SRX-05 for quality.

Thanks guys. I appreciate your feedback and advice.

My key question is though, are they worth the extra money over and above what we have in the core unit?

I think they do worth when compared to the stock sounds, but maybe not the money Roland asks for them new..

Definitely not worth the price new. But ebay prices can be good. And I think they do nicely add to the sound pallet of the core unit, giving you many more options.
