Had the GX a few weeks now and am realising the epianos are sub par even with all the supernatural hype..
I heard some SRX-12 demos and thought they sounded pretty good but am wanting to confirm a few things before purchasing one.
a) does the GX already contain the SRX-12 in some form
b) there are extra sounds available on the SRX-12 which are available to the Fantom but not the old RD-SX... but what about the GX
c) what are other GX owners feelings about the GX epianos?
Just some background on me. I've been a jazz fan since the 80s and have owned three fender rhodes pianos... so maybe I am a little picky.. currently have a Stage MkII right by the GX.

Hi, I have the GX and the SRX12
I don't believe I am hearing enough out of the SRX12 to justify keeping it.
the SRX12 does have alot more clav's to play with vs the GX. Having a great variety of clav's is not that important to me

Re: Roland RD700GX and SRX-12
Hi GregC,
I am to receive my RD700-GX in two weeks, and I can't wait! I fell in love with it's keybed when I tried it out, and I'm really liking the Super Natural EP's.
Are you saying that the SRX12 sounds different than the GX? (As in different sample sets.)
It's hard to know the specifics of the GX as no waveform names are disclosed. Also: apart from the Super Natural voices on the GX, there are a number of other EP's. Do you know if these are derived from the Fantom line?
Thanks,
Kokocalamar.

Hey KoKo, the Fantom and Rd digital piano have been around for a few years. Not expert opinion( I use to own the XR), but my guess is they share 'some' of the same waveforms/EP samples but not all.

ARX 2 Confusion?
I got off the phone with a sharp Roland tech
I thought he said the rd does NOT come with the full arx2
It's a murky topic for me

Re: Roland RD700GX and SRX-12
The SRX-12 has good realistic rhodes sounds, although the low end is week and there are a few bad notes.
The Fantom G corrects a lot of this. Much better low end for sure!
The RD700GX does not appear to have the SRX-12 samples from my testing it a couple of times.
However, the EP's after the other than ARX ones sound pretty good to me.

I hope you are wrong
Mada
That makes zero sense. Why s#% can the srx 12?
Why not have access to it in the G series?
I am hoping in the nicest sense, that you overlooked something!!

Re: Roland RD700GX and SRX-12
sleepingdogs,
Only three parameters from the ARX-02 didn't make it into the RD-700GX:
1. Condition
2. Bar angle key follow (Note: Bar angle is there, just not the key follow.)
3. Bell rust.
All other parameters are there. (Tone type, bell/thump, bell charachter ,pre amp, speaker and so on.)
