the store is arranging a replacement part for me through roland under warranty so that i can swap it out when it comes in about a week or so. :) the fix itself is real easy...15min job. no wires to disconnect and the RD is very easy to service as the electronics is all on the front panel. it just swings open when you remove the screws on the bottom.

and no down time for me as i can continue to play as usual while i wait for the part to come in. :D

Oh, I had assumed that opening it would have voided the warranty. I guess your relationship is such that they still are standing behind it even though you opened the case yourself.
