Can't make MIDI track trigger specific patch

Post by Yourjakeness »

What's going on:
I use the RD Drum patch - record a MIDI track into Nuendo.
I playback the MIDI track and it's triggering a Piano sound.

What I've tried:
I tried changing the prog number (on MIDI track: which goes to 128) BUT none of the sounds are the RD Drum patch. They seem to be General MIDI patches or something.

Goal: Play RD Drum patch while recording MIDI track
Have MIDI track trigger RD Drum patch.

Please help, and please forgive me if this solution is in the thread already.
I have read the threads and got lost.
I've read through the manual -
Walked away - took deep breaths - x's 3

Many, many thanks in advance.

You need to send a bank select message before the program change. They are listed in the separate patch list that you can download from Roland's site.

You mean to tell me that Roland requires a downloaded list - instead of just telling a patch to be a certain MIDI channel?

Did I mention - I am trying to trigger xpansion card sounds.

You probably need to to send Bank Select messages (MSB and LSB) before the Program Change. There should be a list somewhere. For the NX it's a separate download, don't know about the older models.
