RD-64 FC2 pedal jack issue

I just bought a Roland RD-64 and I want to use the Sostenuto feature, however when I plug my foot pedal into the jack nothing is happening when I press or release it. Same with FC1 the Damper works just fine though. What am I doing wrong?

Sorry if I posted this in the wrong place, I didn't see a forum for the 64 so i just assumed the RD-64 is the same as the other RD series.
