I formatted the USB on the Roland 700NX, plugged it into my 2013 iMac with OS 10.10 (Yosemite), and I get the error "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer". The drive doesn't mount. What am I doing wrong? I'm not sure if this has ever worked. I tried Googling this problem, and I am the first person on earth to report this anywhere on the internet. This is literally the first post *ever* about this problem.

I don't own a Mac, but one solution could be to boot your iMac from a Linux live CD (like Linux Mint) and copy the files over to the hard drive. Assuming this is a software problem rather than a hardware problem, of course.
