Expansion Board Not Working

I have a RD700GX with a K-RD700GX1 Supernatural Piano Kit installed. It seems to be installed correctly since when I press and hold any of the two Expansion buttons it shows it is there. However, I can't access the tones from the expansion board. When I hit the expansion buttons they won't light up, nothing happens. I have updated the firmware, which is now 1.06 (latest one according to Roland's website) and I have tried both expansion board slots. I don't know what else to do. Could it be a defective board?
