Can't change MIDI transmit output as per manual on my RD 700NX

I can get to the MIDI screen, but using the cursor to select the second column does not work. the cursors (located on the side of the round disk) work for other things, I just can't get them to go to the second column.

Ideas people?

Here is the manual:
Use the Cursor < > buttons to move the cursor, and use the [DEC] [INC] buttons or the VALUE dial to set the
Transmit channel (Ch) for each layer .
Layer Parameter Settings Description
UP 1 (UPPER 1)
Ch (MIDI OUT
Channel) 1–16 RD-700NX performance data is sent over a
selected channel.
UP 2 (UPPER 2)
LW 1 (LOWER 1)
LW 2 (LOWER 2)

I use that feature all the time and can't recall having a problem with it. Does anything happen when you hit the cursor button? Are you using the latest firmware? Assuming it is not a firmware issue you could try backing up all your Live Sets and then doing a factory reset.
