Control RD tone parameters via MIDI IN?

Post by roger_dodger2 »

Hi all, first post on here. I have an RD-300NX which I've had for a while now, and enjoy playing, but are trying to expand it's capabilities and functionalities wherever possible. One thing I would really love to be able to do is control some of the tone parameters (attack, decay, cut-off etc) while playing, to get the most out of the synth tones. As the 300NX doesn't have any control knobs, I'm exploring other options.

I've never used MIDI before, but are thinking about experimenting with it. The RD would typically be used in MIDI as a controller of course, and I see from the manual that you can assign the foot pedals to MIDI functions (including attack, cut off etc).

My question is can it work the other way? Can you connect a MIDI controller with knobs/sliders to the RD, and could/would it control any of the internal parameters? Has anyone tried this?

Or do you have any other ideas for adjusting these in a live/playing environment? (other than using the buttons via the menu!)

Cheers
