Recording External FA-8

I'm trying to record a studio set midi part from an roland fa-8 into the fantom g. Is this possible, if so how do you set this up, when I try it only recognizes the first sound not the others. I used combination mode on other synthesisers and it works fine but on the Fa I'm have problems even with correct msb-lsb.

Could you please be more specific? Are you recording a MIDI or an Audio Track on the FG?

midi, it just recognizes fist patch in studio set of the fa-8 which has msb-lsb numbers in the manual. How to you get all the sounds to play at the same time, like combination mode on other synths.
