Radek - +1 on what you said earlier. soft-synths and the whole computer-based production thing just doesn't feel as immediate to me as a hardware-based setup. Depending on if we see an MPC-5000 (which is rumored), and how powerful the sequencing and recording is on the new Fantom-G, I'm thinking about moving back towards hardware, including the Blofeld, which sounds fantastic.

cuborg - thanks for the specs.

VCee-Oh and acoustictones - I would not be surprised at all if Artemio hasn't been a beta tester for the "G". Remember, Roland has no company-sponsored forums and central repository for information like this - Artemio has been running this site since the first Fantom-S showed up in early 2003. It would make sense for them to have him in the loop on this release. Trust me, you'll probably get more accurate specs on the "G" here, than even on the main Roland sites. And again, I think that's why we're not hearing from him. He's bound to secrecy until tomorrow.

What did you say??? You think that Artemio is somewhere being "bound".

That totally sucks :(

He may have helped to design some of the preset patches as I believe he has done in the past. I imagine we'll hear from our boy right around midnight... Hope so

Does anyone really think that we will hear anything late tonight? Say after midnight?

The reason I ask is because a number of Roland sites say that they will be anouncing their new products at 5 pm on 1.17.2008.

That would be 5 pm tomorrow night.

Just check it out. Go to any of the sites (like the UK one), change the clock on your computer, and it will change the run down clock along with it. Set it so that there is only one minute left to cound down and see how the screen changes. The run down will be gone, and it will say something about announcing the new products at 5 pm on 1.17.2008.

1) How much better will it sound? And how much more expressive to play?

2) Is it a more complete recording/song creation experience?

3) Price ...

around 1000$ better... (a piece)

Looks to me that thing supporting mouse with this huge screen and so many tracks will not need a computer at all. If yes, roland rocks
and win with yamaha and korg.

Diametro, your point 2 is a BIG one for me. The work flow and this thing being a good recording machine is big for me. I know that a lot of people are more concerned with the keyboard aspect of things, but I am very much on the side of owning a really good and complete workstation.

If all I wanted was a good keyboard I would look elsewhere.

But I have been considering buying a Miko or Neko for a while because I'm really looking for more than just a good keyboard.

So your 2nd point is really a big one for me. I hope that the built in audio multitrack recorder is surprisingly good and that this has "sound card" capabilities like the rack version of the V-Synth (usb2 streaming both audio and midi).

Did you mean that you were "all pumped up like ChubbyLove"?

Come on...I had to...how many times do you get to see a screen name like ChubbyLove (and no, don't answer that...it's toooo easy).

Akai MPC 5000 confirmed.

Fantom G confirmed. Amazing. Price (guess) : 2700$ for G6. You figure out the rest.

Did you guys see the Fantom G6 video? I'm simply blown away.
