Who's Gonna Make The Switch From X to G?
Who's Gonna Make The Switch From X to G?
How many people are gonna make the switch from the Fantom X to the Fantom G? I think I am.
Re: Who's Gonna Make The Switch From X to G?
almost certainly.
Re: Who's Gonna Make The Switch From X to G?
XP-80 -> Fantom-S -> Juno-G -> Fantom-X -> ... why stop if it just gets better and better?
Me definitely.

Artemio,
Where have you been all this time? Did Roland offer you a free G6?
*ofcourse even if they did, you wouldn't tell us about it *

I will buy the new G as it looks and sounds amazing.
I haven't bought a new Roland for a few years now.I still have the old Fantom S so the G will replace my S.
Can't wait to lay my hands on one:)

You can count me in as well.....Ive had my Fantom X8 for 3 and half years and loved every bit of it,used it on over 140 gigs a year, its been a great piece of kit for me but hey this is a natural progression.
Bring it on.....I'm very excited about getting hold of one, having a listen and utilising all the new features.

I will switch....
However I am NOT getting rid of my XP80....
Instead I will be getting rid of my X....
Which bring me to this question....
How hard will it be to switch all my sequences/samples from the x (CF card) to the G....
Can I just plug the CF into my laptop and copy it then just copy it back to the usb key or will I have to do some sort of conversion????
Anyone?
Please Help

Decisions, decisions . . .
With only six months of Fantom-X8 ownership, I think I'm ready. That's how much the "load all samples" thing bugs me. Plus, I would just kill for that large 8.5" screen! I bought a Fantrom-X8, plus three SRX boards only last June. What I haven't decided, is whether to keep my Fantom-X8 as a second recorder (for my guitar/amp set-up in the living room), or sell/trade it. Tough decision.
What I may do is actually opt for the new G7 instead of the weighted-key version. I just can't quite get my speed up on those weighted keys for certain staccato string parts. So, maybe the X8 in the living room, and G7 in my home office/studio where all the rest of my synths live.

Re: Who's Gonna Make The Switch From X to G?
I've got the XR, which I still feel was a good decision. It means dragging a keyboard and a module to gigs, but it gives me flexibility. However I keep waiting year after year for the "one" workstation that will suit me on live gigs. I think this is gonna be the one. I'm not sure if I'd sell my XR, or keep it for another 128 notes of polyphony. Or maybe load up the Artemio soundsets and just use it as a dedicated "Planet" module.
Re: Who's Gonna Make The Switch From X to G?
Yeah, it's tough to decide whether to keep my X. Keeping it as a "Planet" module sounds like a good idea. I mean how much better could the G sound? It's hard to believe that it would sound an order of magnitude "better." Having "different" sounds is always a good thing.
