Hey:

It appears as though what you are saying is that you wish that it had four times the polyphony that it actually has. That isn't a bad idea, and your opinion has been echoed by others here. Unless, of course, you know something that we don't...

I can't understand why the polyphony isn't greater. I'm using the X7 and when I layer Piano,Strings, electric Piano and split left for bass, I can here notes dropping off. 128 Polyphony cannot work anymore..

Add a module ... MIDI up another keyboard ... The Fantom-G's 128 tracks aren't ALL for internal use ... And how many sounds can one hear at once anyway?

One of the things I think we're going to see is a Fantom that's much more suitable to be a master controller of other synths ... I don't think that's something the Fan-X particularly excels at (on par with others only) ...

Wow, try it with 4,5,6 or 16,32 or voices!

Old timers can guess what keyboards I am talking about.

aron:

You must be talking about the old Chroma Polaris, or the ESQ1, or the M1, or the E-Mu Z-Plane...

If Roland is banking on having a ton of folks selling their Fantom-X boards to get this one, then they will probably miss their Q4 earnings.

Like we used to say here in New England, with respect to our (once upon a time) terrible sports teams: "There's always next year..."

Wow you are still young but good guesses!!!!! :-)

4 voice - Oberheim 4 voice, Korg Mono/Poly
5 voice - Prophet 5
6 voice - Polysix, Oberheim OB-X (4-8)
16 voice - DX7, DX7ii w/E!
32 voice - Yamaha SY99 and a ton of others

I just sold my Morpheus. It was a cool Z-Plane rackmount.

Hey Aron:

I'm not THAT young. I'm 35, so I lived through the late seventies and all of the eighties. My favorite music from those decades is stuff like Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" and Jan Hammer's stuff with Al Di Meola.

By the way -- here are a few that you probably hadn't thought of...

Six voices -- Sequential Six-Trak!!!
Six voices -- Oberheim Matrix Expander!!!
Ten voices -- Casio VZ-10M!!!
Twelve voices -- Oberheim Matrix-12!!!

Never owned either of the first two, but a college buddy of mine owned one of each. The third I saw here in Cambridge at David White's shop. I was interested, but it cost WAY too much...

The Audacity Works - I don't think you thought all of this through. I mean, how would you trigger all of them RPS sets.

Also, a trillion billion arpeggiator sets? I guess you just don't care about all those people who are waiting for Roland to finally deliver the much anticipated keyboard with a trillion trillion arpeggiator sets.

PS. Thanks for all the info, The Audacity Works.

Oh crap—you're right. I forgot about that demographic. I guess it just goes to show that Roland can't possibly please everyone.

Also forgot to mention that my Fantom-G7 sells for $1999 street.
