FANTOM G SCREEN SHOTS

Post by cgreene »

I went to the Japanese site and found beautiful screen shots for all of the major modes in the Fantom G as well as shots for the ARX cards - 27 photos in all!

Thanks! Here's a link that will translate that page to English using Google:

Great! This indicates to me that the software is starting to be finalized, which means we're that much closer to seeing units show up in the pipeline.

I tried to find the shown patches of this picture

http://www.roland.co.jp/products/jp/Fan ... ve_top.jpg

in the Fantom X or SRX patch lists.

These patch names appear on the Fantom X patch list:
ForYourBreak
Cross Talk

These patch names appear on SRX patch lists:
-none-

Not not any patch list, so these are likely to be new Fantom G patches:
G-Break
Sine Beat
System G
BPF Saw 3
Rhythmic 5th
80s Brass 3

...although all this is not 100% reliable as Roland may rename old patches or give old names to updated patches...

The picts look really appetizing! I am looking forward to having a real G in front of my senses!

Wow! They look better than they did at NAMM. The screen real estate now certainly seems to be properly filled in.

The coolest thing I noticed is how the sliders and knobs can presumably be assigned to follow the screen or be locked to specific functions. Nice!

Dumb question probably...

Where are the additional effects?

I see only two effects on these screen shots...plus Rev and Cho, or course.

Would they be on other screens?

Unless things have changed (doubt it), the sixteen PFX processors are hard-wired to their respective internal parts.

Oh, the one with the Gtr Amp Sim...

I see only one instance of PFX in the FX routing screen...
Maybe they did not add any others in that mix?

Oh...I guess it would just show up for what ever tone you have selected...I think I am getting it.

Hey the screen shots are lovely! I like that track view, and you can zoom in/out both vertically and horizontally. Drag those clips with mouse, it's amazing.

The availability of the screen shots on Roland Japan website shows that Roland US is slow in get the latest info on their website.

But, this is what I was afraid of.... the extra 16 effects are hard wired like in Motif!! This way you can't share the same effects in multiple patches and you waste DSP. I thought it would be like having 16 MFXs and you could route/arrange them as you wanted, like you can with 3 MFXs on Fantom X.

This isn't as exciting as I had thought. But, I like the ability to send dray and wet (after PFX) to reverb and chorus, even when the part is routed to PFX and MFX. You can't do this on any other workstation but Fantoms and XPs.

I hope I am wrong and the PFXs can be shared by multiple Parts and they can be arranged (serial, parallel, fed into one another.. etc).
