Just upgraded to windows 10 and cannot get connected via USB and it looks like Rolands driver update only goes to 8/8.1 anyone else have this issue. Going back will be a challenge..

Just got an email back from Roland. there reply below:

Roland is currently in the process of rolling out Windows 10 updates - here is a link to the official compatibility listing: http://www.roland.com/support/support_news/250024

This page is updated directly by the engineering teams in Japan, so we expect the keyboard products (including the Fantom-G series) to be added shortly.

Best Regards,
Product Support
Roland Corp. U.S.

Yup, same problem, tried all ways but its just not compatible. We will have to wait until Roland release an update, hopefully sooner rather than later

Just tested a solution using the latest Windows 8/8.1 drivers and can confirm it works!

By disabling Driver Signature Enforcement and spoofing the install file that it is a WIndows 10 driver. Done in 2 minutes...

Easy instructions at this link:

I can confirm that this worked! Thank you guys for all your knowledge and hard work.
For anyone attempting this be sure to remove any fantom driver currently installed on your computer before you do this manually because the uninstaller did not work for me.

This is great that this hack works (Although I haven't tried it yet, seems simple enough to implement), but it is extremely disappointing that Roland has not released a proper Windows 10 Driver for their "Flagship" workstation. Yamaha has released Windows 10 drivers for both the MO6/8 (2006) and the Motif ES (2003), They were actually released in August. Both of these workstations are older than the Fantom G. I'm starting to think that Roland has no plans on releasing a driver.

Legend for Windows 10 Compatibility.

Yes: Compatible Compatible with Windows(R) 10 64-bit Edition / 32-bit Edition

Limited: Limited compatibility Compatible with Windows(R) 10 64-bit Edition / 32-bit Edition with limited operation

No: No plan for compatible version We are sorry but we have no plan to make it compatible with Windows(R) 10 64-bit Edition / 32-bit Edition

The Fantoms have no plan for windows 10 upgrade per Rolands legend.

I tried the cgbengtsson method and could not get it to work. Rolled back to windows 7 and everything works good. My windows 7 desktop used for music only, but I tried and thanks to cgbengtsson for doing something roland didn't.

My setup is working too well with windows 7 to mess with and my old gateway is a real workhorse, also have an editor for yamaha an1x in the loop that works well with windows 7, maybe in the future a fix but for now I'm concentrating on making music.

In reality.. if you system is working.. theres no need to go outside of 7...
the way i see it. your music computer should be a closed box nothing should change
However.. I have managed to get alot of it working in a Virtual machine so that if the computer completely failes it can be migrated to any other pc regardless

I had this problem when I got my first Boutique, the JP-08 and I had to hack the Windows 8 driver. Nearly a year later, I can confirm that this process is still necessary after getting a new computer. Roland Support is no help. Wait 10 minutes for it to fail, and read in the installation instructions that this is expected and if it does you're supposed to unplug every USB device on your machine and try it again. I actually tried this, and it had zero effect. Wake the F up Roland and provide the drivers for download like the other OS's. The fact that your Windows 8 driver works with a little tweaking is proof that you can. Rant over. :)

Its a sad state of affairs when we have finally reach a point where good Gear is made obsolete
simply because of lack of support for a DRIVER!!

This is why i have recently moved away from relying on any! computer or hardware that depends on drivers for music production.
I do all my work using the fantom G and other gear built around it, rather than trying to build around a computer which after all these years has been a real headache masked by pain killers trying to keep up with change..
So when it comes to using REAL Gear

***Its Time to take a step back and take computers OUT! of the equation.***
