A new more powerful Fantom would be great!

What about those mini synths based on Roland's past synths though?

Quinxx if you are talking the Fantom Creator, I hope you are right. I just downloaded the demo, looks like they really are going to do this. Been talked about for years.

This will be something special for both fantom G and X to un-tether your fantom. and does not require any computer hardware or software.

To be honest I never saw the attraction of Jupiter series, to me its a backward step from having a workstation.
maybe get one as an add-on.. either way I would not be too quick to dis-own your G its just wayyy to powerful.
and when this new product is released in about 10 days you will see why.

Quinnx, that is great news. Can you at least tell us if this product is for sound generation or midi sequencing or something else?

I sold my Jupiter 80 and got a Fantom G-7 instead. The 80 has a confusing interface. The Fantom must be among the easiest. (I've still got the OASYS).

How does this work?

I always wanted to bring updates to the Fantom G but I never got the source code from Roland.

Is this an upgrade to the OS? If so is the upgrade built on top of the latest OS released by Roland? And if it is an upgrade what about the testing?

Thanks

This seems like a great idea but yeah, I too would like to know how it works.

Does it record a live performance as a sample or is it into the onboard sequencer?

How do you set it up? Livesets?

Does it need extra RAM to operate?

Price point is good :)

You simply load the project and your will be in performance mode.
Press record and play

Its all recorded as midi no ram upgrade required
and you get the power of the Ableton live sequencer right at your finger tips :-)

Description from youtube:

adds functionality similar to Ableton live allowing you to record and perform sequences to pads/pattern live and recall them on demand in realtime. You can record and perform upto 13 individual pattern sequences 3 pads which are used as your backing.
Pad 4=Chord/arp
Pad 1=Bass
Pad 10=Drums

Pads 5-8 is your single dedicated Solo Lead instrument. Pad 2-3 & 13-16 are for recording 6 extra layerd/solo parts which can all play/record along side your main track or can be solo played against the backing track in place of lead.
As you see in the video, pads 2-3 sax/elec piano are layered and solo through out the video and later on we use pad 13 for distortion effect.

Global Length of the patterns are currently set to 4bars in the video but can be set to any length of your choice.
