Connection X7 to VK8m

Does anybody knwo if (and how) you can connect the X7/6/8 to the VK8module in the following way:
X7 out to VK8 in, make a split on X7, left side of split i hear VK8, right side I hear Fantom

I tried a lot already: making key-ranges, changing midi-channels, etc. Nothing works, everytime I switch a channel on, i hear the VK8, no matter what channel I switch on...

It occured to me before the Fantom is a bad synth if you want to use it as a master keyboard. PLease tell me I'm wrong (and give me the solution)

First, make sure the VK-8M is not in "omni" mode and sits on one defined MIDI channel. Then, you can silence the Fantom's part that should play the VK-8M, and that is pretty much all you need.
