Recommend a PC133 DIMM please

Post by keys »

It appears my DIMM memory module maybe faulty as I am struggling to load Planet A samples purchased from Artemiy / sinevibes.
I am in the UK and want a PCC133 DIMM type memory module - 512mb.
There are all sorts of different makes and prices say on Amazon UK.
I wondered if anyone could possibly recommend the make they have and where they got it from. That way I can be more confident it is compatible etc
With grateful thanks for any help

Hi keys (are we related? :)

I didn't think it mattered as long as you get the appropriate specification memory. According to the manual it has to be:
168-pin DIMM.
Speed: 100 MHz (PC100 CL=2) or 133 MHz (PC133 CL=3)
Voltage: 3.3 V
Capacity: 64/128/256/512 MB
Board height: 38 mm or less ( I believe this is sometimes called "low profile")

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks for responses. I note Plank you got yours from Maplins
I have just phoned Nottingham Maplins and they have one left in stock - a 512mb at £50. The maker is Integral. It appears to fit all the criteria. Would you say that price is about right. There are some very very cheap ones on Amazon that would also fit the bill - but some are definitely dodgy per the customer reviews. One was specifically advertised for the Fantom but did not work.
So - Integral - £50 - about right ?? (And Maplins have kindly said they will refund if it does not work)
Thank you's

You should also look on eBay.co.uk for UK ONLY supplers. £50 is about right from Maplins and as the offer a refund you have nothing to losse.
What I will say is that as far as retail stores (like Maplins-PC World PC Parts outlets) is that older style chips are getting expencive, i.e a 1 gb chip for newer systems like DDR3 1333MHz PC3-10666 Memory Module can be had for around £20, but and older one like a 1GB DDR-400MHz DIMM can be anything like £39 and upwards.
I'm mean, for f@cks sake it's still a 1gig chip at the end of the day!!.
