Yamaha CP-80 samples for Fantom X7

Post by Harvickfan4 »

Does anyone know where I can get a Yamaha CP-80 sample set for my fantom x7? Been searching all over and can only find samples in .GIG format and can't convert them without spending boatloads of money. I know There is already a sound similar called stage piano but the bottom end doesn't sound like it. I've messed with the .GIG sample on my PC but can't figure out how to convert it to a .wav file to transfer it to a PC Card. Please help!!!

Ok so I figured out how to convert the gig file to a wav and loaded the samples into my fantom. Now my problem is figuring out how to make a patch with all the samples that I have. There's about 128 samples at 4 different velocities. At several keys from each octave. Any one know how to do this?

Sweet thank you! I've been looking for this sound for a while. I've had my Fantom x7since it came out but never tinkered with it until now. Only used what it came with sound wise and never really learned how to use it to its fullest potential and trying to figure it all out now. Its a very complicated machine.

Cesarsound1,

Can you give again a link to download your CP70? Not the compilation that contains the B3. I would like the file that contains only the CP70 (filename: EPiano_CP70_FanX_Cesarsound_V1.rar)

Thanks!

I don't seem to have it but I do have a few CP samples if you want them.

No, they're wavs, I'm afraid, so you'll have to create the multisample and patch but I can guide you through that. If there are any loop points, I can give you those too. Mind you, if I can find a spare CF card, I can create the .svq or whatever files myself and post that. I will try this afternoon.
I will look again at my HD because I am sure I downloaded Caesarsound's piano samples and not even that long ago.

OK, here's the link to the folder I have created. Probably not as good as Cesar's stuff but it'll get you started.

The file was compressed with 7-Zip; that's all I've got, sorry.
One of the multisamples is from a real CP70 (E-mu EIIIX library?) and the other is from my old Yamaha P150. I have created a few patches as well and adjusted the stereo panning and decay according to the note played. I have patched an EQ on all patches in case you wanted to change that. Lastly, I created the patches on my X7 (not my X8) so the octave setting might not be right but I'm sure you know how to change that.

Oft disappointed by the lack of realism in the CP patches of many different brands of synth/piano (ironically Yamaha's being amongst the worst IMHO), I've recently settled for Roland's own waveforms. Despite the "stage piano" patches being.....er......hopeless, if you take the E.Grand waveforms in SRX07 (my favourite being 19) and apply them to a standard piano preset such as "UltimatGrand" you'll find something very useable, that you can tweak as you want from there. That said, I'm going to give the Cesarsound collection an outing, just in case I'm talking cobblers.
