Triggering Sounds on a Fantom X-7

Hello. This may be a kind of an off-the-wall scenario, but I was wondering if this could be done.
I play guitar and keyboards in a cover band. I have a BOSS ES-8 channel switcher on my guitar pedalboard and I play a Fantom X-7. I was wondering if there was a way to trigger sounds or notes on the keyboard using the midi out or the control outs of the ES-8 during a live gig. I don't know of any specific MIDI control messages that a MIDI controller can send that would play actual notes or pads on a keyboard.
Any thoughts on this? Thanks for your help.
