Fantom XR Screen Freezing Problem

Hello everyone!

I have a problem with my Fantom XR. It will be fine for a while but eventually, the screen will freeze and not update any more. However, the device will still respond properly to Midi commands and all the buttons will function as you'd expect them to. It's just that the screen will not update any more from whatever it was displaying when the problem occured. The only way to rectify the problem is to switch off and back on again.

It is running system version 2.02 and is being used in conjunction with Sonar 8 (connected via USB) and several other pieces of hardware. My main controller keyboard is an A-90.

Hi folks,

I have a similar problem. With the difference, that the display not only freezes, but is empty. It simply disappears.

XR works fine, but nothing is displayed.

After powering it off and on, the display reappears. This happens even without any interaction (MIDI, USB or button switching). It is not reproducible. It happens from time to time, but not everytime.

Anyone with a hint?

Same problem here. Sometimes the display even shows the words upside down. Turning off and on is a pain is a$$!.

Yes my screen freezes occasionally. Usually when I've spent ages editing a song and haven't saved it.

I had the same problem, took it to the Canadian Roland Service, they replaced the screen, two years later I have the same issue.
Any ideas?

Post pictures of internal circuit boards, display, schematics, etc. Maybe some tech here (like me) can give some tips to help solve this problem...

PS: I do not have the XR
