Jonathan, those reviews at HC are STUPID.

I mean, people who wrote them judge keyboards by preset sounds. This is the MOST stupid thing possible.

I'm a big lover of Roland gear because of many factors:
1. Warm, clear, dense and punchy sound
2. Logical control
3. Great synthesis possibilities
4. Very nice and widely-tunable effects
5. Extremely straightforward sequencing
6. Blah Blah Blah :-)

Roland gear just makes me feel great with it - and this is THE MOST important thing for making great music.

If the instrument inspires you - this is the one for you, and don't read any stupid reviews.

Thom
I checked out your stuff on your MP3 site.
Great work. I'd like to hear what you can do with your skills and that new S.

Sampling

Post by Jonathan »

Can I play a sample loop in real time, and record to a multi track session?

Yes. You could sample real time to a pad, then punch the pad during record. Is that what you are looking for?

Each track has a patch assigned to it. How do you assign a sample pad voice to a midi track? Can the sequencer accept both wave and midi information?

I read very carefully the two reviews on HC. They are either both written by the same guy, or the second is a transparent, thoughtless copy of the first. Evidence: They were both pre-ordered; both very disappointed; both would rather have the S90 and Triton Rack; on the Ease of Use section, they both talk about how it sounds; Both hate the undeniably very good piano; niether mentions probably the coolest feature of all - Skip Back Sampling. And nobody that has played for 20 years brags to his friends about his cool new synth, especially before he has it in hand. Either these two guys are Tweedle Dee and Tweedle DUMB, Or Someone has it out for Roland, (and has for years - I smell arvon45/Olsen5/Montana25).
