Thanks Royce!

The Last (!) Conversion is the SuperSoundSet

This one is a hard / impossible (?) thing.
I tried hard to get those waves together, but i couldnt find the waves only in internal Fantom Bank A and one SRX, but i had to look for the waves in all 4 SRX-Boards (6-9) plus Fantom Internal Waverom A+B.
I made a conversion wavetable wich i gave a colour code from which srx-Board which wave is comming.
I know this will be a hard conversion for you and i dont know if you are willing to do this for me, but would like to ask you for the last time.

I hope you can help me, please!

Here it is SRJV 80 card 07 Super Sound Set converted from XV to FantomX
It uses some Fantom X bank 2 waves which aren't in the Fantom S and some SRX 06, 07 and 09 waves.

The Info/error files are included and contain info on what Fantom bank and SRX waves were used.
There is an extra file "SRJV07 to SRX.txt" this is the wave conversion format that the program now expects to see.

If you want to change the waves for this conversion then you need to edit this file and send it back.
There is a too much work getting it from your Excel file.

Number converted is S60012 for SRX-06 card wave 12
SRX-09 = "S9"
Fantom Bank 2 = "F2"
Blanks were converted to "0000"
Note there must be no tabs (pad with spaces if you want to) and no gap between the "=" and the wave number.
eg
36 FretNoise 2 =F10680 Gtr Fret Nz2
37 Jazz Gt P =S70313 Clean TC2 pA

I have a couple of these SRX cards and preliminary testing sounds pretty good.

Hey guys

I've been reading this thread and the other one about XV factory patches being converted to fan x format. How well does this work? I'm thinking of getting and X6/7 and using it live and possibly selling off my JV-1080 with the Vintage Synth, Orchestral and Session cards. Do these sounds make it intact to the Fantom if I buy the right SRX cards (06 and 07)?

The electronics in the Fantom is different to the JV and both are different to the XV, and I suspect that the all of them have different DACs and post DAC circuits.
I only have the XV3080 and the FantomX8 and they do sound 'a bit' different.
Even when the waves are the same (the same name, I guess they are the same waves) the XV sounds a little warmer. Not as sparkling. I can now do about 90% with just the Fantom, but sometimes the XV is better and it has FXs the Fantom doesn't.

This is so subjective you should really see if you can track down someone with a Fantom so that you can do an A-B test with your JV and a Fantom.

Thanks Royce. I'm actually less concerned about the affect DACs etc have on the sound than whether the patch data makes it intact from what is on the original SR JV80 cards to SRX after these conversions discussed in the thread. I can handle the difference in audio quality from machine to machine. On the X i'll probably use the digital out in the studio anyway.

It would be a very special thing if you have done this work.

Does anybody know how to get the patches of the SR-JV80-01 board "Pop Expansion" on to the Fantom-X? Is there a SRX board which contains these patches, or did anybody converted them and can post them here?

Thanks and regards,

Hi rcraven,

this is one of the information I am missing, I don't know which SRX boards contain the waves of the SR-JV80-01 board, I was hoping someone could tell me or has converted patches available as well.

I did conversions for
JV80-
02 13 16 in SRX 06
04 08 10 in SRX 07
11 12 19 in SRX 08
05 14 18 in SRX 09

Some waves from
17 are in SRX 09

Nothing for SR-JV80-01 I'm afraid.

I have included the SR-JV80-01 manual with a wave list
You will find the SRX owners manuals here (go down the page a bit)
http://www.rolandus.com/support/owners_manuals/?group=7

I'm afraid you will have to do the checking of where the waves are in the SRX cards.
You should check the Fantom's own wave list as well.
If you can match them, then make up a list like the one mentioned earlier in this thread and supply the SRJV80-01 patches and I will try to do the conversion for you.

Good hunting
Royce

Hi Royce,

Thanks, I will check the various waveform lists. Just one question: do you know if the SRX waveforms have the same names like corresponding waveforms of the SR-JV boards? Would be difficult to identify otherwise I guess..

That is the first step.
They did rename quite a few from the XV to the FantomX
eg XV............. FantomX
58 MK-80 EP A = 66 80's E.Pno 1
59 MK-80 EP B = 67 80's E.Pno 2
..
256 Slap & Pop = 267 Jz Slp+Pull1
..
281 Flute 1A = 298 Flute A
282 Flute 1B = 299 Flute B
283 Flute 1C = 300 Flute C
284 Jazz Flute A = 295 Atk Flute A
etc

So you will need to check by sound as well if you can.

All the best
