Somewhat off-topic, but illuminating anyway...

Post by SammyJames »

Hey --

Well, I got my new VS2400CD home last night, and I started playing with it this morning. Now, the tning is that there is some kind of a glitch in the audio path. Not sure if anyone else has experienced this, but I'm planning to bring it back for an exchange tomorrow. It seems as though there is some problem with the digital output or something -- it creates this very harsh clipping sort of sound, even when there is nothing being played back. Weird.

In some sort-of Fantom-S related news, I also picked up the XV5050. Wow -- what a great box. I'm just stunned at some of the sounds -- especially the basses, pads, and drum kits. This thing is definitely going to become my "techno box" and my Triton Studio will produce more of the bread-and-butter types of sounds, like orchestras and pianos.

So, that is it for now. I'll write again when I've been able to start actually RECORDING some stuff...

Oh, and also -- I think that I may be going to a Roland recording workshop in a few weeks -- I got invited to go by a couple of the guys at the music store that sold me this latest round of gear. I'll be checking out whatever new stuff they might have, so stay tuned.

Oh, and just one potential thing to fix...

Artemio:

You asked for some feedback, so here's the only thing that I can see that you might wish to change:

On some of the UBB boards, there is some way to turn the stupid "UBB code" on or off, or to use html. I prefer not even having to worry about that. IF there is some way for you to automatically parse web addresses and emails into hyperlinks, then cool. Otherwise, maybe a user-activated switch or the ability to enter raw HTML code would be good too. I'm not even going to try putting any HTML into this box right now, cuz I'm tired, and I don't want to have it sqwak at me. But anyway....

Yes, I can do it.

Actually, this board currently parses away any HTML code you might enter in messages.

In future, I will add automatic parsing of e-mail and web addresses. And, of course, you will be able to switch it on/off.

By the way,

did you notice that the EDIT button appears only for YOUR messages?

This is what some forums lack :-)

Also, in 'user info' you can see the ip-tracked country of a user.

5050

I'm glad you like your XV5050.

But Fantom-S was acclaimed to have a new ROM sound set. However, it has some waves from XVs, that's for sure.

Get a load of this man...

This is amazing dude! I mean, seriously -- I wish that IE5.0 and up would do this automatic parsing of HTML thing. I think that this is just great...

Add to the already great look and feel of this site that you are a really good programmer, and sheesh...we've got a ringer on our hands, people!!!!

Just wait until he gets his hands on a Fantom-S...

You're welcome, noisemaker!

I hope you will help me improve everything here.

I need more information about the Fantom-S - could you help me with this? I would be very, very thankful.

Good luck!
