Cannot install Fantom-X USB drivers in Windows 10

Post by Alazarin »

I updated my computer to Windows 10 from Windows 7 and now USB communication with my Fantom X8 is broken. I tried installing the Windows 8 drivers normally and in compatibility mode and it hung forever. I also tried installing the drivers manually through the Device Manager but that failed too. Any suggestions?

I wasn't able to get the installer working, but I did manage to get the drivers to take and work.

Did you remember to tell windows to allow unsigned drivers?

Note, this process seems to be a 'per session setting'. I.E. You can NOT just do it once and install all the unsigned drivers you like in the future. It simply disables the safety until the machine is rebooted. So, next time you want to install unsigned drivers, you'll need to repeat the process above to disable the safety again.

Try that, plug the Fantom in so it shows up in device manager as device with no driver, and use the device manager to install a fresh/unedited copy of the Fantom X drivers manually.

If this doesn't work try editing the RDIF1045.inf file:

Change [Roland.NTamd64.6.2] so it looks like this:

[Roland.NTamd64.6.2]
;; Windows10
%RDID0045DeviceDesc%=RDID0045Install, USB\VID_0582&PID_006D ; FANTOM-X

Then try installing through the device manager again.
