Hi guys. Thanks for the absolutely great and helpful comunity you have here.
I have been searching here for some solution for this but i'm not being successful.

I have a Fantom XR which I love, but it always goes to GM mode everytime I send a PC to it. I send, for instance, Bank 11201 in my Kurzweil PC3K and voila, GM Bank- Patch 001 Piano.

I configured a preset in my Novation Remote 25 like this:
One knob for MSB 0 and the Bank Knob sends LSB 32 (this one is not configurable, at least I didn't find any way of doing it).
In the midi monitor of my Sonic-Core Scope system it shows (whether I use the PC3K or the Remote 25): I think it is understandable for you all.

I have set the XR with GM on OFF, gm2 on OFF and GS rest OFF. And I tried with these ON but nothing changed.
I can't find anything wrong on my settings that lead to this result.
Can someone help me?

I still don't get it. Midi OX and Reaper all show the right values and the synth just doesn't change from that f*cking GM.
I already reinstalled the OS 2.02 it already had, reset to factory... no joy.
Midi channels are ok, it plays the right patches if i make the changes in the front pannel.
I am getting desperate with this one.

Does it do this for all Bank + PC messages?

If you send it a different PC (eg C0 20) does it go to the correct patch in GM ?

Yes, it does it for all bank+PC changes.

I tested your sugestion but unfortunately it always goes to GM.
About the C0 20, it goes to the patch 078 Acoustic Bs.
If i put C0 19 it goes to GM patch 058 Steel-str. Gtr. WTF?

Openned the synth disconnected every wire, the srx99 expansion board, memory board, and reconnected againd.
Nothing changed.

When you just send a PC without the Bank select does it stay in the current bank and doesn't change to GM?

If the CC0 of the bank select is anything from 0 to 63, no matter what value the CC32 is, it will drop into GM mode.
So the CPU must be getting a CC0 0 to 63 from somewhere, followed by PC.

I does sound like a hardware problem but I think you would get note and pitchbend problems as well.
I once had all sorts of confused Midi and that turned out to be a Midi cable that was on the way out. Easy to rule out.
It could also be the PCB mounted Midi socket. Intermittent contact. Is it loose? Does it need re soldering?

Can you change the patch successfully using MidiOx and the USB port?

It is working now.
With your suggestion about the midi connection I have it semi-figured.
If I remove Midi (5-Din) from the midi routing it works with the fantom's usb-midi. This part is working flawless.
Now I just have to find another midi cable and make the test. The Midi Assy board didn't look as needing soldering anywhere yesterday but after the cable test I will follow that route in case it doesn't get fixed.

Finally I found the root of the problem. The Midi cable got one wire unsoldered.

Oh yes, many a mysterious Midi problem has turned out to be the cable.
I don't actually remember my piano teacher saying that I would need a soldering iron, but I'm sure she did as she was very thorough. 8)
