Hi,
I have a problem with my Fantom X8 one Key does sound out of order
Assuming when I play the c scale when I reach at A it makes weird sound even playing a chord which
contains the A key makes the Chord sound weird and It’s gradually spreading to its neighboring keys (G, B Bb). Is someone familiar with that problem.
I have noticed that when I switch the Keyboard velocity from Real Keyboard to any figure the weird sound disappears. And the Volume of the whole Fantom gets quite low so this is not an optimal solution for me.
Hope anyone can help me out.
Fantom X Weird Sound
Re: Fantom X Weird Sound
Hi m0rf,
just to make sure I understand you right:
the sound is not physically from the keys themselves, but comes through the output of the keyboard? All outputs? Phones, as well?
Does the problem transpose when you transpose the sound, or is it strictly caused by certain keys?
(My thought here obviously being whether the problem lies within the software of whether it is directly connected to physical controllers.)
I guess follow-up a test could be playing the sound from a MIDI keyboard and see what happens.
Does this happen with any sound you choose? If so, patches AND performances? With and without FX?
(Re-booting the keyboard & (re-)loading the latest software are standard things to do to remove minor software hick-ups. You probably have done those already...)
Cheers,
ensho

Re: Fantom X Weird Sound
Hi ensho,
thanks for your comment.
To answer your questions
the weird sound remains at the same spot even if i transpose
It does happen to any sound patch.
Like i said the only way to overcome this issue is to change the keyboard velocity from real to any figure.
I have also done a factory reset which yielded no fruitful results

Hi m0rf
are you able to use another keyboard and connect via Midi to see if it still happens?
If you don't you could use MidiOx on a PC and play by using the mouse.
What mode are you in, patch, rhythm or performance?
Does it make the weird sound in all modes
Have you changed to different Patches, Rhythms and Performances?
Have you tried all the above with nothing connected to the back of the FanX except for a power chord and headphones?
All the best

Re: Fantom X Weird Sound
Hi Royce
The weird sound does appear oin all modes
I have changed to different Patches and so on.
When i connect it to a midi it does make the same weird sound.
I even connected it to the Integra 7 but still the weird sound appears.
I connected it to my pc and played the Key on virtual keyboard but yet still the sound is weird
Same problem with headphones

Re: Fantom X Weird Sound
Hi m0rf
so that is really weird.
Sometimes you can get something vibrating at a certain pitch that isn't part of the synth. Like a loose bolt in the keyboard stand or an object next to the speaker. But you say it does it with headphones so that can't be it (assuming the speakers weren't on as well).
Does it stop as you turn down the volume ?
If you connect the output from the FanX to the Integra and turn the volume off on the FanX does the integra make the odd sound too at the A note ?
Can other people hear the problem ? (Everyone's ears can play tricks on them)
Tell me how you have all of your gear connected. Audio and Midi
All the best

Re: Fantom X Weird Sound
Hi Royce It does not stop when the volume is turned down.
the weird sound does not appear when conected to the Itegra.
As at now the integra is connceted to the Fanx via midi cable and i use my headphones which is connected to the integra as audio output.
in the settings i have switched off the local switch which means no sound comes out of the fanx

Re: Fantom X Weird Sound
Hi all,
the solution was to open the Fantom and remove the respective Keys and clean it. The dust on the chip was the problem.
