Workstation ergonomics - Fantom X desktop module

Hello all - just thought I'd share with you my Fantom X module. It just so happens that a keyboardless Fantom is possible, although a bit of a faff to do. Removal of the side mouldings, lower case, bender unit and baseplate is necessary - and a new smaller baseplate and side plates formed from a sheet of 2mm aluminium will do the job. My biggest concern in attempting this was that I'd knack a perfectly good FX. As it was, I managed to get a very cheap and dilapidated unit off eBay and once I'd cleaned half a brewery out of it, I set to work. The good news it that in disconnecting the keyboard and bender circuitry the unit just carries on as if nothing had happened. Clearly the design spec is that the unit keeps on working even if bits of it fail (or disappear in this case). Well done Roland!

Brilliant! Oh, and that Yamaha looks just like my old P150.

That's about the weirdest thing I have ever seen. But I love it! If you hadn't explained how you did it, I would have said it was photo-shopped.

Ha! I wouldn't know where to begin with Photoshop. The action of the Yamaha pianos (in this case an old P200) is better than on the X8 - which I find very clunky.

They do feel different but I liked both; the P150 was my main controller for about 14 years and it had to go when I acquired the X8. The one controller I hated the feel of was the CME UF8.
