Hello.
I have a problem loading and processing samples in my Fantom-X7.
Even if I load waves, some of them got errors, like missing a part of the sample. The thing is, if II process (trunchiate, amp, any operation that includes modify the sample), the sample, it got more gops in the sample.
It may be the RAM, but I don't have a PC that supports that kind of ram , to make the memtest.
So, is there inside the Fantom-X, a menu, an option, to check it's ram?
An utility that checks the memory?
I searched the manual, but nothing, on Google zero answears..
Maybe I got lucky here..

You need to find out which memory is faulty.

With your FanX empty of samples...
Sample silence for as long as you can.
Play it back and listen carefully.
Can you hear a transition between the built in 32MB memory and any extra memory you have put in?
Start cutting it up and processing it and look and listen to the results. Any difference between memory?

Record a sine wave. or something similar, with the recording level just below clipping for the max length of time.
See if you can see a change between the built in and add on memory.
Start cutting it up and processing it as before. Does it cause an error in the same spot?

To determine the time of the memory change point (I can't remember, sorry) , power off the FanX, remove the extra memory.
Power back on and record a simple varying wave (silence will be compressed) to create the biggest sample filling the USER memory and note how long, timewise, it is and save it. It won't give you the exact transition point, but you can load the file after you replace the other memory and basically any new recorded samples should be in the added RAM

If it turns out to be the built in memory you can autoload this sample and just use the extended memory.

Otherwise you should try to reseat the added memory a couple of times. This will slightly polish the connector surfaces and improve the connection to the FanX.

If that doesn't improve it then you will need to search eBay for a replacement.

I have test it only with the 32mb internal flash. The same..
The thing is, if I unload, and reload, one by one, the reloaded is ok.

Ah, and I found the service manual, and get it into testing.
The tests said it is ok. Flash, and RAM.

After trying everything...
...with no results, I end-up quitting.
But yesterday, I was reinstalling my laptop with a new ssd, and going to the downloads on Roland site, I saw the 2.10 update OS.
I gave it a long shot and..
... well now it is ok.
Everything works fine !!!
I guess I messed up something on the OS if now it is ok.
I must recognize I've been using Yase for editing-importing some AKAI samples.
Maybe that was the reason the OS was messed up.

I didn´t- It still has that glickes, those errors. Changed the RAM, even let only the internal memory. I guess it is the mainboard. I had to change a long time ago some condensers that licked away.
