Fantom X7 - LCD lights up but no action

Hi folks,

I recently pulled my Fantom X7 apart to replace some of the front panel buttons. After reassembling, the screen lit up, but did not show the boot sequence - that pads did cycle through their boot sequence.
I discovered I'd left a cable unplugged. Reassembled, screen lit up but was very faint. When I poked around, the fault seemed to be the ribbon cable supplying the screen - I'd wiggle it, and erratic lines would appear on the screen.
I've replaced the cable now I'm back to a lit screen with no boot sequence. The ribbon cable did seem to get quite warm after a minute though.

I'd be grateful for any ideas!
