Same here if anybody has this kit I'd be glad to use it, it probably needs an image to restore on a flash card to be useable but it is worth the 10 minutes of work please anyone use rufus and make us an image backup:
Roland does not have it anymore and it does not sell anymore either.

Stupid question, and yes there are stupid questions, is this the same thing that Roland gives away on its website at https://www.roland.com/us/products/fantom-x8/downloads/

If it not the same thing, would someone mind posting what it is and why it is important?

Since it has been over a week, I am going to bump this and hope someone has an answer.

If I remember correctly, the CF card upgraded the OS to v2.0 then Roland offered the v2.10 update for free.
The last version of the OS that you can upgrade to on a v1 Fantom-X is v1.07, available from the same page linked to above.

The issue was that the data couldn't be copied to any old CF card. Somehow, it seemed to be connected to the specific card people bought from Roland. I'm not sure if that was ever solved.

Anyone, please correct me if any of this is wrong. My X7 came loaded with v2.10 when I bought it.

My X8 came from a professional studio in LA and was already at version 2.10 as well.

I am trying to figure out if there is a file that might be in danger of being lost and that I should throw up on an archive. And should I also find or write instructions as for the file use as well.

That is interesting. If that is still an issue, I would like to take a look at it with my software development colleagues.

Can you tell me if the VHD image you provided was from a CF card that was used to successfully perform an upgrade, or just the files it contained?

My X7 (v2.1) booted up with the dreaded "Fatal error. ROM program load error" message, and following this guide http://forums.rolandclan.com/viewtopic. ... 89#p327389, I was finally able to revive it, but alas to v1.07 version!

So I am now stuck in v1 land, unable to get to v2 again, which sucks.
Does anyone on this forum possess a Roland issued 'FAN-X-UP1' card, that can make a forensic image of it and share, or sell it to me? Please PM me!!
