Questions on Juno stage

Post by mjcall »

HI, i am considering buying a Juno stage. The closest one i can
tryout is about 2hrs. away. I have heard good and bad about this
synth, but seems to have everything i need. I had heard that the output volume is pretty weak? and that the brass and organs
were mediocre ? Has anyone been using this in band situations?
and if so what are your thoughts. the onlly sounds i use are
piano, strings ,lots of brass, lots of clavinets, some organ, and rhodes sounds. So any help you can give would be very much appreciated.

Thank You

Hi.

"I had heard that the output volume is pretty weak? "

Not sure about that, seems fine to anybody so far.

"the brass and organs were mediocre? "

True. There is not enough really good brass sounds to choose from. Organs are not bad, but even though there is plenty of them, I am lacking some special ones. Let us hope there will be sound libraries released for Juno Stage.

I use it practically only live. Changing the Quick Access mode to Favorite Mode which is on the Juno Stage was a major fuck-up, otherwise the machine is quite usable.

I bought it because of its user friendly interface (except for the Favorite mode, aaarrgghhh!), versatility of sounds (covers all sorts of sounds, more or less) and improved sound quality over the JunoG (128MB Wave rom). Not the best thing on market, but it is fine for almost any kind of gig or jamsession.

QUESTIONS ON JUNO STAGE

Post by mcall »

Hi Luke,
Thanks for your thoughts on the juno stage, i am going to
go try one out. i tried the juno g and what i have read was the stage is an upgrade as far as sounds, and i thought the g sounded
ok. Would really like the fantom g but can't justify the cost difference.

Thanks
Mike

No problem.

Infact, I just decided to get rid of it.

- no libraries
- can't really use the favorite mode live.
- the keyboard is too light for me

I like the way it sounds but I would suggest going for the Fantom X7 instead. Along with the same waverom memory (128MB) you get a sampler, loads of libraries and other benefits (screen, aftertouch) for roughly the same price, depending on the deal you get.

Hey Luke,

Thanks for the advise. My goal is to get down to one board
but in the band i am in I really need the favorite mode,do
a lot of splits, and we don't waste any time between songs
so that i need to access them quickly.thats why i like the 76
keys instead of the 61's. I will look for the x7.

Again
thanks
