Track Assignments Playing SMFs

When playing SMFs in Performance mode, I can't see the individual track assignments in the Partview display. The tracks are playing correctly with suitable patches, but tracks 1-16 don't show as being played. Moreover, the mute tracks button doesn't mute anything as non of the tracks appear to have assigned patches. The SMFs do have data on tracks 1-16.

Is there some sort of GM initialization command required or are the SMFs playing in an extended mode which the Stage doesn't recognise?

Never seen this before on any other keyboard. Any help would be appreciated.

I've found that when playing SMFs from an external software sequencer (SONAR LE) the channels are set up correctly and visible for editing in the Stage display, However, play the exact same SMF from the USB stick and it doesn't!

There must be some sort of GM initialization set up in the Stage's song player which I'm missing maybe?

Anyone any ideas? Has anyone used the song player for MIDI files?
