Talk Box

Post by Imobilizer »

Hello everybody,

I was listening to a Pink Floyd song called ''Keep talking'' the other day.
Then somewhere in the middle of the song I heard a strange kinda sound.
After some research I found out that the sound was coming from a ''talk Box''
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk_box (the talk box)

Gilmour starts using the talk box round 4:21

So because I found the sound very cool, I tried to generate a sound that sounds the same with the editor, but I just couldn't come up with something good..
So I was wondering if somebody could help me with this, I would be very thankfull (:

Best thing for that, would be to just get a talk-box! Electro Harmonix have a guitar-vocoder pedal that I was looking at getting.

I think the closest you could get, would be to put a wah on your sound, and have maybe the ribbon-strip or aftertouch knob affecting the filter. That way you could control the expression during your solo.

I've tried them all and Rocktron Banshee is the top.
Although popular as a guitar effect, I use it with keyboard on funk tunes like Roger Troutman on 'More Bounce' and 'California Love'. It really gets attention. A wah pedal is much different, and no internal keyboard effects will sound close.
