Korg releases the iMS-20 app for iPad

Post by Artemiy »

This is almost too good to be true! I hope this sounds as good as it looks, though.

Dear Roland, where is the iTB-303? :-)

This is the very first professional looking synth app I see for the IPad. The specs are really impressive. I suppose it wont sound as good as the Legacy pack but it defenitely will be worth the $15.99

Components:
- MS-20 monophonic synthesizer: 1 unit
- Analog sequencer: 1 unit
- 6-part drum machine: 1 unit
- Mixer: 1 unit
- Song/Pattern composer: 1 unit

It sounds great, I bought it yesterday and I am very impressed! It's got a really high-quality sound with character, especially the growly filter.

Don't know yet but if it isn't possible I bet it will be very soon, as most major apps already support either the Line6 MIDI interface or the new CoreMIDI system in iOS 4.2. I wish I had a class compliant (driver-less) USB MIDI keyboard to try this (all Roland gear needs a driver). I think I will start looking at something portable and battery powered now :-)

Yep, line 6 is a very good idea. I've seen it's presentation on SonicState

Hum... CoreAudio 4.2 supports it...

Line6 needs in-app support via their SDK, it's not working via CoreMIDI. What CoreMIDI gives is standard SDK for all apps, using it they can support any standard USB MIDI device.

As a long time user of Roland keyboards, I must say that they have their faults, but their use has made me an expert on all matters related to the appendix. In this case, I would give your teacher an A+. She is exactly correct.
