Ok, I think I have it. So, I download apps to my MBpro then access them via wifi to install them on my iPad. Still trying to get my head around wireless midi as well. However, I understand that if I "must" have a usb port, then I can achieve that with one of the camera attachments.

No, you don't need a USB connection to download anything like apps. iPad itself has an App Store app which lets you download any app from there, free or paid. Same for music, movies, TV shows via the iTunes app. If you download an app like GoodReader for file storage and viewing, then almost any download on Safari or attachment in Mail can be saved there.

So once again, you don't need a USB connection to your Mac or PC to do all this. Just a Wi-Fi network.

Thanks again, Art. This is getting really interesting. Time to do some more research, then decide to wait for iPad 2 to see whether the enhancements are worth jumping on board with the latest model or catching a good deal on a current model at reduced price.
