None of the apps are marked as iPad 2 only, and I highly doubt Apple would discard the 20+ million user base.

GarageBand for iPad will be $4.99 as I read, this is truly amazing. Will buy it immediately!

This is really going to put downward pressure on the prices that have been charged for ipad music programs. As Jobs said, Apple likes to set a high bar for developers to design (and price) to. How many days away is Mar 11? It's going to be hard to wait not just for Garageband, but to see how the other developers respond. It's hard to think of a better time to be living!

sishan, I am not sure what you mean. iOS 4.2 is a free update. What's a problem for an iPad user to download and install a free software update?

ohhh right. My bad....It might have slipped my mind as I didn't upgrade my original ipad (with OS 3.X or something) to 4.2 in fear of losing all apps, books and other purchases.

so that means any exisiting ipad can be upgraded to ios 4.2 for free, right? But one will lose all contents though. Is there a way to retain those somehow? BTW, I don't have those contents anymore in my iTunes library as I switched from a windows to a Mac and could not transport my earlier iTunes library properly.

You won't lose your content, who told you so? The update is done via iTunes. Before the update, iTunes backs up your iPad, and after the update is done it restores it.

Sync your iPad to iTunes on your Mac. The first thing it will do is make a backup of all of it's data, even if you don't perform a software update. It will actually make a backup every single time you connect them together.

BTW once I accidentally unplugged the USB cable while my iPod touch was being updated. I was able to restore everything after that, not a bit of data lost. The backup is what it says.
