for anyone has insider look on the gaia, is the synth engine the same of the sh-201 or is new different one using different chipset and algorithms?
i meant the OSC, filter, amp, eg, lfo generation, do not consider the fact that sh-201 has a traditional VA structure and gaia a 3-stacked mono-synth, i mean the single chain osc>filter>amp with their EG and LFO.
Gaia Synth engine:same of sh-201 or new one?
Re: Gaia Synth engine:same of sh-201 or new one?
It's a different engine; listen to the SH201 sound snippets vs the Gaia ones and you'll hear the difference. The Gaia is gentler on the ears, although the 201 has a rawness some people like.

Scotty is 100% correct. SH-01 engine has nothing from the SH-201, it's completely new in this type of Roland instruments.

And Artemiy works with Roland, so what we're saying is true.

very nice. thanks
Re: Gaia Synth engine:same of sh-201 or new one?
I went and had a play at the weekend. It sounded nice to me. The oscillators sounded somewhat polite as a VA goes I thought though. What I really confused me was whether this synth was generating the waveforms or by samples. I know people will say does it matter as long as it sounds right, but I would like to know. As an owner of a JD990, XV5080 and a JP8080 I didn't think sound-wise there would be much to gain for me.

From what I've read the sounds are modeled and are not samples.
