patterns drum sound choice

When I try to edit a drum pattern I seem to be restricted to a few kits (about 15) compared to all the ones I can find in the live sets. Is that normal? How do you programme a pattern with , say LoFi1 for example?
Also how do you use the compressor on a drum pattern? I can't seem to work it out...
