Commoder Amiga anyone

Post by Quinnx. »

So any of you guys get hooked on the original and 1st true multitasking computer that set the world standard for personal computer back in the 80s.

This thing ROCKED!!
Back when pcs where still monochrom and the best sound was beep!

it was 4 channel digital stereo 8 bit
Graphics where unparalleled 16/32 bit
with multi resolution screens, completely independent of desktop resolutions
Graphics produced by this gem where demonstrated by the SciFi Bablylon5
which was all done on this baby..
and for all its capabilities it was all done in 1mb ram with a 7mhz cpu
Unbelievable!!!!

Music was done with the likes of
Protracker for sequencing samples
and MUSIC X for everthing else
Still have a few tunes i produced with this computer.
Models in order where
Amiga 1000
amiga 500
amiga 2000
amiga 1200
amiga 600
Amiga 3000/4000

I used a 500 with two disk drives and 1mb of RAM later 80's early 90s. Around 92 I used Bars and Pipes as my sequencer for all my music while I was at Uni studying media. Good times. I no longer have it. It was a good machine. At uni I used it for music, word processing, graphics etc.

And 2 of the most iconic supporters of the Amiga where
Fred Fish (RIP) Personal disk collection of shareware
AMINET (online world wide shareware library still going strong today)
My favorites all time favorites commercial games where

Shadow of the beast
Giana sisters
Bubble bobble
Atomix
Lemmings
Benifactor
Buba & Stix (very funny game)
Ports of Call
Pinball dreams/Fantasies

Programming..
The all time best programming compiler was AMOS/Pro
Created a few apps including a small sample vari-phrase app years before roland thought of it.
