Bashing Roland and other manufacturers !!!!!!

It pisses me off that I purchase an MC 909 and the most common part that would break on the unit is no longer available anywhere. Roland support has totally sucked, they wouldn't even give me the number to Roland Japan. Oh and here is their quote "Please note, parts requiring internal access to the product are not available to consumers and must be installed by an authorized service center." A big FAT BOOOOOOOOOO!!!!

Now Roland is not the only other company guilty of this crap, Korg is right up there with them.
I was going to buy a Korg Z1, it needed a new main board. Again not available, I had to tell the guy believe it or not you might as well toss it in the dumpster.

These manufacturers really suck, such a waste. If you have ever heard the Z1 the sound is awesome as with the mc 909, the sequencer is one of my favorites.

This idea that we are going to produce these disposable instruments is just mad. That someday in the future there will only be pictures and videos of these instruments as they are later retired as doorstops.

Shame Roland SHAME !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just to get this in context, how many computer manufacturers keep parts for their PCs from the same era (ie 10 or more years old)? I would be surprised if there were any.

It's part of the electronics model I'm afraid.

The Z1 is probably the only Korg I'd ever consider getting - it's quite unique, but simply not economically viable to keep stocks for ever and a day. Same for Roland. And Yamaha, etc.

Why not look out for a MC909 on eBay (or maybe two or three) which will keep your products alive?

I want to say that I have fixed my issue. I used a circuit writer pen on the pads and all is good works great now. Still no tap tempo, that tactile switch is very difficult to find.

And I agree with you 100%, I know that the bottom line is money and these corporations can't keep stock of older items.

But what they could do is release data such as sources for the electronics, part numbers, etc. Just a lil more information would be nice.

CanĀ“t confirm, I was able to get parts from Roland Germany. Some of them needed soldering in...never had a problem with the Roland support. In fact I appreciate that the users can order parts from them directly (if they are in stock of course)...unlike most companies in this area.

If supporting old instruments is so bad for companies, they could just ask for more money. People who are accustomed to certain instruments would certainly pay it.
