Greatly saddened to learn of the passing of the founding father of Roland Corporation, Mr Ikataro Kakehashi. He had the remarkable vision that set Roland on its way to become one of the, if not the, most significant electronic instrument manufacturers. I hope his DNA continues to live on within the Roland Corporation to drive it forward in the same pioneering and innovative spirit.
I hope you will join me in sending our thoughts to his family and friends, from a community forum that would have no reason to exist without him.
I will raise a thankful toast to you tonight Kakehashi-san - rest in peace.
Ikataro Kakehashi has passed away
Re: Ikataro Kakehashi has passed away
Sad news indeed Cello, a glass raised tonight in Lunar Studios to the memory and achievements of Mr Ikutaro Kakehashi. A true giant in the world of electronic musical instruments, and one of the reasons, along with Dave Smith & Tom Oberheim, that our gear talks MIDI. Entire genres of music simply wouldn''t exist without the instruments Roland have made over the years, an amazing legacy to leave.
