System Sound Banks

Hey im new to the gear life. And i just purchased my first synth (System-1 hardware). i dowloaded the trial verision software on my mac so i can change patches in banks. but once i i download and install it i cant seem to find the software. is it a stand alone software or is it within a DAW. New to the DAW life as well.
