A bit surprised, but delighted, that Roland have updated these two devices further. Added here are probabilty, loads of great new FM features, new FX and more. Both models needed probabilty adding, it's such a great feature that enables you to get much more out of a 16 step pattern. The FM expansion is detailed and comprehensive, and every parameter just about can be modulated by the knobs and LFO. The new effects are great too, and the Random Kit and sound functions throw up new ideas very well. A really good update for both machines that should sell a few more for Roland. The only major thing missing from both machines now is Step Offset for each sound (a percentage by which you move the instrument forward or back of the step to create a looser groove), whether that will ever be added, who knows? The TR8s was by far Roland's best ever drum machine, but the new update has made it way out in front of all its previous drum machine models, well done Roland.
