one of the best feelings....

Post by pianodick »

Is when you come home from a stand in situation, for players you never met in your life and you play, black magic woman, brown eyed girl, green eyed lady, and the bluest eyes in texas all in one night and even though you thought you sucked the whole time, the crowd said they loved you, the other players said they loved you, and the club owner asks if you have your own band to book back with. That makes the whole thang worth while.

I'm not familiar with "The Bluest Eyes In Texas". Who did that, originally?

It's a cowboy tune that was done by Restless Heart. It was written by a woman named Linda Crist I believe.

Sounds cool, PD. Frankly, I love jamming out with Santana tunes. There are some great keys in many of his best tunes.

If you're intested, here's a very cool article on Santana's various boarders:

Nice link, RW. Chester Thompson is just an absolute beast. His Tower of Power solos on "What Is Hip" and "Squib Cakes" are not to be believed. Especially "Squib Cakes"...........after horn and guitar solos, he takes over, playing both manuals and the pedals. It is not to be believed. If you love the B3 and have never heard this track, do it NOW.

And there's another tune on the Back To Oakland album, a semi-famous one titled "Don't Change Horses In The Middle Of A Stream". The sound and style he puts under the chart are SWEET.
