He plays it near the end of the video. Interesting. Though I dont understand a word he is saying... sounds like German, would make sense if it is lol.

EDIT : Found another video, this one is a demo!

Apparently release date is September. It will cost €3,000

Here's a look at the originals ...

Looks like I paid less for my JP8 than Jupiter-80 is going to cost ... (And that was less than 1 1/2 years ago when prices were already on the march ... )

watched the video..
Apart from the supernatural thing.. I dont get it..??
What can anyone say that makes the JP80 better for the price, than either a new kronos or an ebay fantom G?

Okay cool explanation of the jp8 and that it was pushing the limits of what was available at the time on sound..
that still does not explain how the jp80 is as innovative and even by comparison..
by today's standards and what is already available, the jp80 is by no means pushing any limits its simply replicating what already is.

that's what i fear....
no more G anymore...
as i stated before in another thread....
if G will be left out again....
i won't trust Roland for long...
i will buy an Xr...and then Wallet Closed Roly.
I belive that Jup80 is actually a very good Wstation but...
when it's too much its too much.
By way,,,let see what Roly has in its pockets for us...
then we will see if our pockets are happy to see Roly again.

Watching the Howard Jones video. Coming off my MacBookPro the thing sounds really good. Maybe not analog, but psychically pleasing. This quality of synth makes me again ask the question: If pop producers in the early 80s had the choice between this and say a "real" JP8, both EQd and effected similarly, which would they choose? Or had we never heard "real" analog, would we still enjoy the 80s records with a synth like this? I say yes. Nice piano too. The key is gonna be layering like HJ is doing, and it appears the polyphony will be ample to handle this. Look it's the musical result. I'd probably be going for one of these before a Dave Smith Prophet 8.

Obviously Roland is promoting this first and foremost as a "proper" synth, but will be interesting to see how it does the bread and butter stuff as well. Again the practicality of a keyboard like this is that it's not a 1 trick pony.

So far I'm really impressed!

Continuing on watching the HJ video. It's about the sound baby and this thing is NOT disappointing! When it comes to analog synths I go with the gut - how does it make me feel? This thing is making me feel real good.

256 polyphonic is massive enough and it does sound massive to me. let say; if we would of buy ARX-PIANO, ORGAN, BASS, CLAV, Woodwind, string, and ethnic instrument would maybe cost us around 3grand so I can see why not all in one under a legendary synth. Not bad....FG and JP-80 sound like a good match.

it sounds quite obvious to us that you intend to sleep with it then, a substitute sex doll perhaps?
